1001 Books You Should Read Before You Die Challenge

I recently was scouring over the 1001 Books You Should Read Before You Die list, and I was blown away by how many of those books I haven't read.

So, I've decided to start a challenge. The 1,001 Books Challenge is a way for me to incorporate one of these must-reads monthly into my reading.

Here are the rules:

Must read 1 book a month from the list.

Must rotates lists every month.
(For example, August I will take a book from the 2000's list, then following month choose a book from the 1800's.)

Pretty simple, huh?

You can find the list here.

Come and join me!

*************************************My 1001 books challenge reads.

August- The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time- Mark Haddon Review

September- Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas- Hunter Thompson Review

October- The Shining- Stephen King Review

  1. This sounds like a great challenge! Are you going to make this a "formal" challenge with a time frame or just leave it open?

  2. Hey, Jenny I was thinking more like leaving it open, cause otherwise it would feel daunting.

If you decide to start the challenge also, I would love to know what your reading, and how you feel about it.

I'm going to follow your blog, and put it on my blog list.

  3. Man! I looked at the list and I can't believe that I haven't read more of these! To be truthful, I haven't read hardly any of them! I may have to do this challenge. I normally don't take part in challenges, but I think that to call myself a reader I probably should be able to say that I've read the classics.

  5. Hi Melissa,
I would love to do this challenge if it's going to be open ended on time. I have posted about this at my blog and linked back to you. Now all I have to do is find one of these books at my library. Have a great day!

    P.S. I found you via Jenny's place.

  6. Thanks for joining me girls. Open ended was the only way to go with something like this...1001 books. Let me know what ya'll are reading, and what ya'll thought about it, so that I can have suggestions on what to read next from the list.

    Have a great week.

  8. This is really great. Where is the list for the 1001 books? I am reading the Modern Library's 100 Best Books list and I wonder how many of those will be on this list.
