Going Through a Major Book Slump

I haven't been reading much at all, infact I pretty much haven't picked up a book in a couple of weeks.  What!?  For awhile there I was trying to get into a book, any book.  I would randomly pick up a book and start and if it wasn't working for me I would put it down and pick up another one, until I wasn't picking up any of them.  I have so many books and I am still buying them, so my piles are going up and up!

Major slump!

I can't remember feeling this way since I was in high school.  I have some reviews to write and post, hopefully I will get some done today, then I might if I feel like it pick up The Confession by John Grisham.  Hope good ole' John will get me out of this slump.

  1. I just joined the RIP Challenge hosted by Stainless Steel Droppings, and the Gothic spooky books are always one that get me out of a slump!

  2. I've learned that sometimes you just need a break, but you're a reader and it will eventually come back! And sounds like a good plan... something familiar like John Grisham would be the perfect way to ease back in to reading!

  3. I'm in a bit of one myself. For me it usually means I need to get as far away from my normal genres as possible.

    Good luck!

  4. I felt one coming on and I turned to TV to watch an Amish movie. Think you need variety in your life. I keep wanting to catch up on my books so I can do some cross-stitching. The stuff is on the dining room table but I need to get the reading for the ones that I need to review dones next.

Take care, Do something else for a while.

  6. I know the feeling. I feel like I have to keep kicking myself in the rear end to get blogs written and posted. and even worse, I'm a writer, and I keep hitting that cursed brick wall of writers block. Hang in there, you'll find a book that will completely engulf you. Try something that is completelt different than anything you have read. Maybe even an anthology with different short stories and things all in one.

  7. I agree with Natalie. Spooky books help me. Picking something that I've always loved to read and go with it and not worry about reviews and obligations!

  8. I hope you manage to get out of the book slump - it's such a bummer when that happens.

On a positive note, I had to re-draw for the winner of the book "Next to Love" by Ellen Feldman and your name was chosen. I decided to leave a comment to avoid the email spam filter - it's been making it harder to contact winners lately I think.

Anyway, contact me (akreese at hotmail dot come) and I will send you the book. :)
