Beachcombers is the story of three sisters, Abbie, Emma, lily, and newly divorced woman, Marena. The three sisters grew up on the island of Nantucket, and Marena, after a ugly ending to her marriage decides to recuperate at the island and rents out the guest cottage. Two of the sisters, Abbie and Emma have moved away but Emma comes back after the abrupt ending of her engagement, and Lily, the only one who remains in Nantucket calls Abbie to come home to help with the emotionally weakened Emma, and their father, who finacially isn't doing so well.

I really enjoyed reading about each sister, and Marena.  Every chapter was told in different voice.  My favorite was Emma's story.  I loved how they each learned about themselves and in the process grew up.  Ms. Thayer does a exceptional job in making you feel like you know the characters, and in turn you find yourselves wanting to read more and more.

I really liked Beachcombers.  It is the perfect beach read, especially with Nantucket as the setting.  This is my first Nancy Thayer book and it won't be my last.
