I've Got Your Number: A Novel

I've Got Your Number
Author:  Sophie Kinsella
Publisher:  The Dial Press
Publication Date:  February 14th 2012

From Goodreads:

I've lost it.  The only thing in the world I wasn't supposed to lose.  My engagement ring.  It's been Magnus's family for three generations.  And now, the very same day his parents are coming, I've lost it.  The very same day.  do not hyperventilate Poppy.  Stay positive!!

Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier.  She is about to marry the ideal man, Magnus Tavish,  but in one afternoon her 'happy ever after' begins to fall apart.  Not only has she lost her engagement ring but in the panic that followed, she has now lost her phone.  As she paces shakily round the hotel foyer she spots an abandoned phone in a bin.  Finders keepers!  Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring.  Perfect!

Well, perfect except the phone's owner, businessman Sam Roxton doesn't agree.  He wants his phone back and doesn't appreciate Poppy reading all his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other's lives through emails and text messages.  As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents..she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

I'm a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella.  I get excited when I hear of a new book, so naturally I needed to read I've Got Your Number.

I really enjoy the fun Ms. Kinsella brings to her books.  Though at times I wanted to scream at Poppy "What the hell are you doing", I loved her innocent endearing qualities.   You can't help but want to befriend her if only to keep her out of trouble.  As for Sam, I really don't feel like I got to know him that well, but then again I can say the same thing for Jack in The Shopaholic Series.  I think the guys are background characters for Ms. Kinsella.  The stand out character is always the female MC.  Her characters are usually quirky and well meaning, but quite meddlesome and Bridget Jonesque.  Poppy is no exception.  Sometimes I really wanted Poppy to get a backbone, and so did Sam.  I love that he calls her in her self doubt, and tries to help her stop being a floor mat.

The flow of I've Got Your Number is good. I wish the romance between Sam and Poppy was a little more detailed.  Again, I really don't feel like I got to know Sam that well, and that could be why their romance felt like it was messing something.

I enjoyed I've Got Your Number but it was not great.

My Goodreads rating: 3 stars
